Technology & R&D

The communication protocols, field hardware, test infrastructure and software technologies behind our energy projects.

The communication protocols, field hardware, test infrastructure and software technologies behind our energy projects. Each layer is selected according to the applicable distribution company specification and the realities of site conditions.

Industrial communication

Data exchange between the plant and the distribution company runs over the protocol defined in the relevant specification. On the field side, we work with the protocols supported by the device manufacturer.

  • IEC 60870-5-104 — Telecontrol protocol used in distribution company and transmission operator SCADA integrations.
  • Modbus RTU / Modbus TCP — Data exchange with inverters, power quality analysers and field control devices.
  • IEC 61850 — Relay communication in substation and MV switchgear automation.
  • DNP3 — Alternative telecontrol protocol for remote terminal units.

Field hardware

  • RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) — Acquisition of plant data and its transfer to the distribution company.
  • Energy control unit — Control and measurement unit required by specification.
  • Power quality recorders — Measurement and logging of grid quality parameters.
  • Protection relays — Overcurrent, earth fault, unbalance and voltage protection functions, and automatic reclosing.
  • Communication equipment — Link infrastructure between the plant and the control centre.
  • Weather stations — Performance ratio (PR) calculation from irradiance, temperature and wind data.

Test infrastructure and commissioning

  • Relay test sets — Functional testing against time–current characteristic curves; verification of instantaneous and time-delayed tripping.
  • Point-to-point testing — End-to-end verification of every signal and evidence of compliance with the specification.
  • Short-circuit and load flow analysis — System modelling for protection coordination.
  • I–V curve tracing — Fault detection and performance verification at string level.

Software architecture

Where off-the-shelf solutions fall short, our in-house development capability lets us build applications around the actual requirement.

  • Web-based SCADA — Monitoring and control interfaces accessed through a browser.
  • Desktop SCADA clients — Applications for field and control room use.
  • PV İzle — Our platform for generation tracking, alarm management and reporting on solar plants.
  • Automated reporting — Daily, weekly, monthly and annual generation and performance reports.
  • Alarm and notification management — Immediate delivery of critical events.
  • Mobile access — Field data available through a mobile application on request.

Vendor approach

We work vendor-independently and select the product best suited to the requirements of the project and the existing infrastructure.
